The '''National Committee Against Repressive Legislation''', founded in 1960 has now merged with [[Defending Dissent]]. The group was referred to as NCARL.

==History==
NCARL was formerly the [[National Committee to Abolish HUAC]] (House Un-American Activities Committee) and, in March 1969, it changed its name to the [[National Committee to Abolish the House Committee on Internal Security]]. A few years later it again changed its name to the [[National Committee Against Repressive Legislation]], but it still remained under the control of the [[CPUSA]].
