Shanelle Smith is a native of Perrysburg who was raised in a strong union family. She was recently named a 2009 Ohio Political Leaders Fellow by the Center For Progressive Leadership, joining 45 other outstanding young leaders in the center’s inaugural class of Ohio fellows.[1]

She also interned at the Ohio Civil Rights Commission.[3]
National Association for the Advancement of Colored People
While studying at Kent State University, Smith was leader in the university’s chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
Apollo Alliance
Smith joined Apollo Alliance in April 2009 as a Senior Writer and Policy Associate.[4]
