Rainforest Action Network
While attending the University of Colorado at Boulder, Sevakis helped direct the local chapter of the Rainforest Action Network. During that time she worked on a campaign to convince Home Depot and other major home improvement retailers to not sell products made from old-growth and rainforest timber.[1]
Chicago Recycling Coalition
Sevakis joined the Chicago Recycling Coalition to improve the city’s “Blue Bag” recycling program.[2]
Chicago Jobs with Justice
Sevakis worked for Chicago Jobs with Justice, a labor-community coalition engaged in strengthening worker’s rights.[3]
SEIU
In 2004, Sevakis was a member of the political and communications staff for SEIU Local 3, a Midwest regional “Justice for Janitors” local.[4]
America Votes
Sevakis worked with America Votes, a national organization focused on mobilizing voters during the 2008 election campaign.[5]
Michigan Voice
Sevakis also worked as a consultant for Michigan Voice, a state group that coordinated civic engagement organizations in the 2008 election campaign.[6]
Apollo Alliance
Sevakis joined Apollo Alliance in April 2009 as the Michigan State Coordinator.[7]
