Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey just retired from her 10th term as the representative from California’s Sixth District, just north of San Francisco. Her district included all of Marin and most of Sonoma County. In addition to serving as President of Americans for Democratic Action, she co-chaired the Congressional Progressive Caucus from 2005 to 2011 and was one of the House of Representatives’ most visible and vocal leaders on progressive issues. A passionate and outspoken opponent of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, she helped move public opinion against these failed policies and was one of the leaders in the movement to bring our troops home. Congresswoman Woolsey was the first former welfare mother to serve in Congress. A mother of four grown children and grandmother of five, she lives in Petaluma, California.
