The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development is a Cabinet department that deals with developing and executing policy on housing and cities. It was founded as a Cabinet department in 1965, as part of President Lyndon Johnson's "Great Society" program.
The department is headed by current Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Shaun LS Donovan.
