Ernie Adamson, who was Chief Counsel of the HUAC in 1946, wrote a letter to Hon. Sam Rayburn, Speaker of the House of Representatives, on Washington, D.C., Feb. 8, 1946. He said that "The committee has decided that it lacks sufficient data on which to base a probe" into the Ku Klux Klan.[1]
