American Indian Movement

Created in 1971, the American Indian Movement AIM to , got captured by extreme elements with communist connections, including the Means brothers, Dennis Banks, Vernon Bellecourt, Jimmy Durham, and others. They got national attention by seizing an Indian Bureau building at Wounded Knee, which led to the killing of two FBI agents, the seizure of the abandoned penitentiary at Alcatraz, and other publicity stunts.[1], and [2]

However, AIM also had numerous contacts with communist governments and movements, as well as some terrorist groups around the world.[3].
