Michael Posner is the founder of Human Rights First. He served as its Executive Director from 1978 to 2006 and its President from 2006 to 2009. He was appointed Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor in October 2009.
Obama appointment
In July 2009 Michael Posner was nominated[1]by the Obama administration for the position of A/S, Democracy, Human Rights and Labor in the DOS.

Posner serves on the Board of Directors of Human Rights First.[2]
