Running for DSA leadership
In 2020 Garrett Burr ran for At-Large Representative on the Portland Democratic Socialists of America steering committee.
- At-Large Representative
I’m running for the steering committee because I’ve decided to devote more time & energy to activist work within the DSA.I joined DSA in 2013 and am currently active in the Libertarian Socialist caucus and the Resiliency working group. I’ve also been a mobilizer and helped with events like the summer school, holiday parties and coffee hour meet ups. From my profession as a maintenance lead at an educational institute, I bring skills of scheduling workloads, communicating and working with varied groups, and generating ideas.
- I’m also interested in increasing DSA’s resiliency through mutual aid projects: food growing, self-defense instruction, disaster preparation, and know-your-rights training. I’ve previously done volunteer work with KBOO community radio, People’s Food Co-op and my union..
