Nancy Folbre is a professor of economics at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, lives in Montague, Massachusetts.
She is the author or co-author of three The New Press books: The Invisible Heart, The War on the Poor, and Field Guide to the U.S. Economy.
She has received a five-year fellowship from the MacArthur Foundation and also served as co-chair of the MacArthur Research Network on the Family and the Economy. She works with the Center for Popular Economics and is an Associate Editor of the journal Feminist Economics[1].
- Folbre focuses on the interface between feminist theory and political economy, with a particular interest in caring labor and other forms of non-market work.
Writing
Her recent books include Family Time: The Social Organization of Care (Routledge 2004) (co-edited with Michael Bittman) and The Invisible Heart: Economics and Family Values (New Press, 2001). Nancy received her Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts[2].
Campaign for America's Future
In 1996 Nancy Folbre, University of Mass. Amherst was one of the original 130 founders of Campaign for America's Future[3].
