Richard McCarthy was a member of Democratic Socialists of America in New Orleans and executive director of Market Umbrella in 2006.[1]
Socialist Scholars Conference
Pat Belcon, Jerome DeRomanet Mary Curry and Richard McCarthy were speakers on the Carnival is Color: Afro-Caribbean American Culture panel sponsored by Multicultural Music Exchange Program at the Tenth Annual Socialist Scholars Conference. The conference was held April 24-26, 1992 at the Borough of Manhattan Community College, New York City.
McCarthy also spoke alongside Margaret Yard on the Do Revolutionaries Eat Fried Chicken? panel sponsored by the Multicultural Music Exchange Program.[2]
