In 2002 Heba Nimr of INS Watch; Kali Akuno of the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement; Ruthie Gilmore of the California Prison Moratorium Project and Critical Resistance and Jay Mendoza of the Philip Vera Cruz Justice Project, Co-sponsored with the California Prison Moratorium Project and Critical Resistance gave talks entitled: "U.S. Immigration Policy and the Intensifying Police State." The classes were held at the San Francisco based Center for Political Education, an organization closely associated with the Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism.[1]
