Template:TOCnestleft Ryan Smith is a Durham, North Carolina activist. Smith joined Durham People's Alliance in 2009 because he was interested in being more engaged in the political life of Durham and supporting PA’s progressive vision. After graduating from Duke with a master’s degree in theological studies in 2004, Ryan spent seven years working in the non-profit sector in development. Over that period of time, he worked for a diverse array of non-profits in San Diego, Washington, and Durham with missions ranging from documentary photography for recently resettled refugee youth to early childhood education to modern dance. After supporting Congressman David Price’s 2012 bid for re-election as his Campaign Finance Manager, Ryan returned to Duke where he received a Master of Public Policy. Ryan currently serves as the Director of Strategic Initiatives for the Sanford School of Public Policy. [1]
