Tonight is my last night in Montana, and I am sad to be leaving! Did you know that Billings DSA (pictured here) ran and won a spot on their city council and is about to launch another campaign for TWO MORE city council seats? And that's not all! Bozeman DSA is also running someone for their city council--this is AFTER they won city employees a $15 minimum wage. Western MT DSA successfully pressured the city of Missoula last winter to open an emergency warming shelter & is now part of the planning process for opening one this winter as well. Helena DSA will be a major force in making sure that Bernie wins the primary here once again. Montana has a long history of labor struggle and socialist tradition and seeing this continue in our time is very inspiring. I love this state and when New Orleans sinks I'm moving to Bozeman. Anyway, off to Wyoming for the last leg of this trip! (feel free to tag or untag yourselves) — with Randy Heinz, Roxann Heinz and Nadine Smith.

July 2018 Statewide meeting

Montana Democratic Socialists of America July 2 2018.[4]

40 #beautifullsocialists, all members of the Democratic Socialists of America, convened for the first ever Montana DSA statewide meeting in Helena yesterday. We discussed how we could work together for Medicare for All, on the Poor People's Campaign, electing DSA members to the Montana legislature, for a Populist PAC, exploring fusion voting, and organizing socialists for statewide coordination and action.
This was the largest meeting of organized socialists in Montana in at least four decades, and over 1/4 of our statewide membership attended. Most Montana communities of over 10,000 people were represented, including members from chapters in Billings DSA, Western MT DSA, Bozeman DSA, Glacier DSA, and Helena DSA.
