Michael T. Carrigan was elected President of the Illinois AFL-CIO on February 28, 2007, by unanimous decision of the State Federation Executive Board. Mr. Carrigan previously served as Secretary-Treasurer of the Illinois AFL-CIO for seven years. Prior to that, he served as business manager/financial secretary for IBEW Local 146 in Decatur from 1992 to 2000. Mr. Carrigan was a journeyman wireman in Decatur from 1978 to 1990 before becoming Assistant Business Manager of the Local.[1]

Center for Tax and Budget Accountability

In 2014 Michael Carrigan served on the board of the Center for Tax and Budget Accountability.[2]

Treasurer's Transition Team

Two weeks after Election Day 2014 and with the vote counting finally finished, Democrat Mike Frerichs emerged the winner of Illinois’ closely contested state treasurer’s race.

Heading his transition team will be Illinois AFL-CIO President Michael Carrigan and Democratic U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly, a former state lawmaker and former deputy in the office of former Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias.[3]
