Maja Weisl Johnson

Maja Weisl Johnson was a Czech born, Boston based activist.

Maja Weisl passed away at her home on July 18 2011. She was a true working class teacher, trade unionist, comrade, fearless fighter for peace, justice, and against racism.

For years she and her late husband Lew Johnson were a driving force at the Center for Marxist Education in Cambridge.

Maja was a life long member of the Communist Party USA, the UE and was a loyal member of UJP.[1]

Massachusetts May Day

In May 1995 the Communist Party USA newspaper Peoples Weekly World published a May Day supplement. Included was a page offering May Day greetings to Massachusetts Communists Lew Johnson, Laura Ross, and Ann Timpson. Endorsers of the greeting included Maja Johnson.[2]

Communist Party MLK tribute

On January 19, 2002, the Communist Party USA newspaper, Peoples Weekly World published a signed tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr..

We salute Dr. King’s courage and vision. He saw and struggled for an America and world that can be. We pledge in his memory to work to reorder our nation’s priorities “so that the pursuit of peace will take precedence over the pursuit of war.”

Signatories included Maja Johnson . Almost all signatories were confirmed members of the Communist Party USA[3].

In September 2006 the Peoples Weekly World[4]listed several members of the Massachusetts Communist Party USA.
