Lanny Sinkin, executive director of the nonprofit Solar San Antonio, is stepping down at the beginning of 2015 to help restore the king of Hawaii to his rightful place.
Sinkin — who for the last five years has worked for the nonprofit started by his father, civic and business leader Bill Sinkin — is returning to Hawaii where he lived for 17 years. He is involved with a group that is looking to restore the kingdom of Hawaii to an independent nation, free of the United States.
Bill Sinkin died earlier this year.
At Solar San Antonio, Sinkin has helped residents get solar installations on their homes, represented installers and dealt with CPS Energy on a number of solar issues.
Solar San Antonio’s board of directors has not decided what they will do after Sinkin leaves at the first of the year, according to board Chairman Laurence Doxsey. The board should have a better idea of what their plan of action will be next month, he said.
In Hawaii Sinkin will help spread awareness of the efforts of the kingdom to become its own nation. “To restore a whole nation is a big undertaking,” Sinkin said.
Irish participants at the conference told the Guardian that they had no Kremlin links and were simply taking an opportunity to promote their cause. Sinn Fein member Diarmaid Mac Dubhghlais compared the eastern Ukraine conflict to the “Ireland of years ago”, arguing that the pro-Russian rebels were fighting a “fascist government” in Kiev.
“In Ireland, we accepted help from Muammar Gaddafi,” said Michael McLaughlin of the Irish Republican Socialist Party. “When you’re in a battle for national liberation you don’t question the background of the people helping you.”
While Ramon Nenadich of the Puerto Rican group Borinken and Lanny Sinkin, a representative of the self-declared King Silva of Hawaii, said their struggle was non-violent, Omali Yeshitela of the Uhuru Movement said American imperialism could not be overcome by peaceful means.
“We call on you to recognise the right of African people to engage in armed defence against American colonialism, and we would like to express our profound appreciation to the Anti-Globalisation movement of Russia,” he told attendees.
“We are convinced that we are on the right side of history, we are convinced that we will win, we are convinced that we are winning. Uhuru!”
At the event, the inhabitants of different countries have been spoken about a lot of claims to the West. In particular, the chief adviser to the king of the US state of Hawaii Lanny Sinkin told how States took their land: "We were independent until 1893, the government was a constitutional monarchy, had foreign relations, including with the United States." But in the end the Queen was forced to sign an agreement with Washington. It took more than 120 years, and everyone is waiting for Hawaiians restore the country's sovereignty. Sinkin also accused the United States in the destruction of traditional religion, a ban of the Hawaiian language in schools, in the destruction of the economy of private ownership.
