Joe Thomas is a Colorado based activist.

Education

Washington University in St. Louis, Bachelor of Arts, English Literature, 2003 – 2007.[1]

United States Students Association

Joe was a trainer in grassroots organizing with the United States Students Association, 2006-2008, teaching college students how to build effective direct action organizations on campus.[2]

Missouri Campaign for Change

Thomas was a deputy field organizer with Missouri Campaign for Change.[3]

Primary responsibilities included recruitment, retention, training, and management of volunteers for the Obama campaign in Saint Louis City. [4]

Missouri Jobs with Justice

Thomas served in a number of organizing and office staff positions with Missouri Jobs with Justice, a coalition of community, labor, student, and religious groups committed to "economic justice". He also was the student youth co-chair for the St. Louis Area Chapter of Jobs with Justice, focusing on connecting students to community, labor, and religious organizations.[5]

Apollo Alliance

Joe Thomas spent three years as an organizer in Missouri before joining the Apollo Alliance in May 2009. as a Senior Writer and Policy Associate.[6]

Communist Party Herschel Walker award event

The Missouri Communist Party USA's Friends of the People’s World hosted their 18th annual ‘Hershel Walker Peace and Justice Awards Breakfast’ Saturday, May 8, 2010, at the CWA Local 6300 Union Hall, 2258 Grissom Drive (in the Westport area), St. Louis.

Newspaper Guild International President Bernie Lunzer was the main speaker for the event.

The honorees were:

The awards honor the memory of late Communist Party USA member Hershel Walker, a Missouri labor and civil rights activist, who died in 1990 at the age of 81. Walker’s life – which spanned 60 years of activism – ended tragically when hit by a car on his way to deliver petitions to save 4,000 jobs at the Chrysler Plant.[7]

Known attendees included Communist Party USA affiliates, Tony Pecinovsky, Jim Wilkerson, Zenobia Thompson, Lew Moye, Glenn Burleigh, Julie Terbrock, John Bowman, Joe Thomas, Jeanette Mott Oxford, Democratic Socialists of America member Joan Suarez, plus Mahrya Monson, Don Giljum, Jessica Pace, Jason Kennedy, Jennifer Rafanan, Solveig Paulson, Dr. Greg Miday, Roosevelt Stewart, Michael Vossler, Maria Chappelle-Nadal, Richard Von Glahn, Shannon Duffy and State Rep. James Morris. [8]

Colorado

In 2012, Joe Thomas was active with Colorado Jobs with Justice.[9]
