Jeff Bingaman is a Democratic member of the United States Senate, representing New Mexico. In 1982, he won election to the United States Senate, and in 2006, was re-elected to serve a fifth term. Before his Senate Career, Bingaman served as New Mexico Attorney General, beginning in 1978.
Supported by Council for a Livable World
The Council for a Livable World, founded in 1962 by long-time socialist activist and alleged Soviet agent, Leo Szilard, is a non-profit advocacy organization that seeks to "reduce the danger of nuclear weapons and increase national security", primarily through supporting progressive, congressional candidates who support their policies. The Council supported Jeff Bingaman in his successful Senate run as candidate for New Mexico.

Agricultural exports to Cuba
In March 2009 legislation was expected to be launched to open the door to expanded agricultural exports from the US to Cuba.
It was expected that US Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Montana) will this week introduce legislation to congress that would open the door to more agricultural exports to Cuba.
While Congress was home for recess July 2010, Alliance for Retired Americans members across the country met this week with members of Congress and staff including: Reps.
