- Today we recognize Abbey Lodwig, our September #laorganizerofthemonth. A supervisor at a local Starbucks, Abbey has been fighting to unionize & secure a fair contract in the historic organizing campaign of Starbucks Workers United. This has been one of the most successful organizing efforts in decades to achieve better health & safety conditions, guard against unfair firings, and address persistent wage problems at the coffee giant. Abbey has vowed to continue the fight until Starbucks workers get the pay, dignity, and safety they deserve. This month’s awardee also organizes with New Orleans for Community Oversight of the Police and has led efforts demanding a ceasefire in Palestine. Thank you for all you do in Louisiana, Abbey!
