Standing for AD 70

In 2019 Ben Hauck stood from AD 70 for the California Democratic Party Central Committee.

As an organizer and an activist, I fight for a platform of progressive values prioritizing the people and the planet. I would be honored to serve and represent the people of Assembly District 70, bringing that same activist spirit to the California Democratic Party.

I have spent my entire life in Southern California, and have been an active organizer in Los Angeles and Long Beach. I am a trained Climate Reality Leadership Corps ambassador, and helped to mentor a group of environmentalists in Los Angeles. My environmental activism expanded after going to Standing Rock and seeing the injustice and oppression firsthand. Upon my return, I helped to create and lead the Divest LA campaign, successfully getting the City of Los Angeles to commit to divesting from Wells Fargo bank. This led to the creation of Public Bank LA, a grassroots organization fighting for public banking. I am the Political Director for Public Bank LA and was one of the lead organizers on the Measure B effort. I am also a proud member of the Democratic Socialists of America.

The California Democratic Party has one of the most progressive platforms in the nation, but we have a lot of work to do to implement the platform. Homelessness continues to be a major problem in our state, and the housing crisis demands urgent solutions for affordable housing. Climate change fueled wildfires are ravaging the state, yet we continue to be one of the largest fossil fuel producers in the nation, with frontline communities bearing the brunt of the pollution. It is time for our party to fight for bold solutions like a just transition and a Green New Deal. It is time for California to move forward on a single payer healthcare system, and provide coverage for all of us.

I am proud to be running on the Blue Revolution slate to represent the people of AD70, and work within the party to create real solutions.[1]
