Standing for AD 51
In 2019 Amarnath Ravva stood from AD 51 for the California Democratic Party Central Committee.
As a lifelong progressive, published author, and educator, I have always believed in standing up for the under-represented, under-served, and marginalized. I believe California is at an important crossroads; since 2016, it has become clear that we must strive harder to lead America towards a progressive future one that believes in the adverse effects of climate change, one that believes in diversity, both in identity, cultural heritage, and in ideas a future that is inclusive and not divisive. California, like America, is a nation of immigrants; the current political climate is trying to erase us, as if our work does not matter, as if our voices are meaningless. As your delegate for the past two years, I have worked hard to promote the values and desires that I believe we share that we deserve a living wage, clean air, clean water, opportunity for our children through investment in schools instead of prisons, and sustainable strategies for development that puts our shared resources first, not last. I am grateful that many of you believed in me in 2017 and ask for that faith again. I believe healthcare is a right, not a privilege. I believe the time for a New Green Deal is now.
