United Federation of Teachers

The United Federation of Teachers is an affiliate of the American Federation of Teachers (the Local 2 chapter). The union is also affiliated with the 600,000-member New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) and belongs to the AFL-CIO and the New York City Central Labor Council.

The UFT represents about 200,000 people in the New York
It is allied with the Federation of Nurses/UFT.
It offer a full spectrum of workshops and graduate-level courses to some 30,000 members annually.
The eleven officers of the UFT are elected for three-year terms. They include the president, six vice presidents selected at large, secretary and assistant secretary, treasurer and assistant treasurer.[1]
