Scott McLemee, of Inside Higher Ed , was an identified member of JournoList - an email group of approximately 400 "progressive" and socialist journalists, academics and "new media" activists.
JournoList members reportedly coordinated their messages in favor of Barack Obama and the Democrats, and against Sarah Palin and the Republican Party. JournoList was founded in 2007 and was closed down in early 2010.[2]

It was noted in the minutes of the Democratic Socialists of America National Political Committee meeting of May 3-4, 2008 that Scott McLemee would be joining the editorial board of DSA's magazine Democratic Left..[3]
New Politics
As of 2009 Scott McLemee served on the Editorial Board of New Politics, magazine almost completely staffed and run by members of Democratic Socialists of America[4].
Campaign for Peace and Democracy
McLemee is listed as an endorser of the Campaign for Peace and Democracy, as of March 15, 2010.[5]
