Africa Action was established in 1953 and is a partner organization of the Institute for Policy Studies.[1]

Its mission is to change U.S. Africa relations to promote political, economic and social justice in Africa. Africa Action is widely recognized for more than five decades of solidarity with African human rights and justice advocates across the continent. It has been singled out for praise by African leaders from Kwame Nkrumah and Leopold Senghor to Julius Nyerere and Nelson Mandela.[2]
