Vietnam always regards the people of Russia , Ukraine and Belarus as traditional, faithful and reliable friends, and will do its utmost to maintain and uphold these sentiments, a senior Party official has said.
Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Truong Tan Sang made the remarks while receiving a delegation of war veterans from Russia , Ukraine and Belarus , who once participated in Vietnam ’s resistance war against US aggressors.
Sang applauded the delegation’s visit, saying it not only serves as a chance for the former Soviet Union’s veterans to pay a call at their former battlefields and meet with old comrades and friends, but also help nurture the time-honoured friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the Vietnamese people and their Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian counterparts.
He took this occasion to thank the former Soviet Union’s people, including those in Russia , Ukraine and Belarus , for their valuable support extended to Vietnam during its past struggle for national independence as well as its present process of national construction and defence.
Representatives of the veterans said they were delighted to visit Vietnam and witness its sweeping transformation and its achievements as a result of the renewal process.
They praised the leadership role of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the nation’s revolutionary heroism and creativity during the fight for its national liberation.
Earlier, Sen. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Khac Nghien, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, received the veterans–guests of the Ministry of National Defence and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations.
Nghien, who is also Deputy Minister of National Defence, said during the resistance war against the US aggressors, the Vietnamese people received great assistance from international friends. The people and army of Vietnam will never forget the devotion of the Soviet war veterans, he stressed.
Dan Margolis is the chair of the New York State Communist Party . In addition he writes for the People’s World, covering local New York City and state issues, as well as events at the United Nations. Margolis has been active in New York City elections, including as the mid-Staten Island coordinator for the 2004 Democratic Congressional campaign.
Margolis straddles the two most powerful political parties on the US left, so his take on Democratic prospects in the 2010 Mid Terms should be given some credence. Unlike most pundits Margolis believes not only that the Democrats will not be roundly defeated in November, but that they will increase their majority.
In talking about the current Democratic majority and its fate in the 2010 elections, news editors have been using words such as “slipping,” “imperiled,” and even “doomed” in their headlines.
Reading such press, one gets the idea that the Republican Party is poised to take over the country and derail a nascent era of reforms even before it gets off the ground. Some say the GOP takeover will be, perhaps, on a scale as grand as the 1994 “revolution” led by Newt Gingrich.
But April, despite the messages from the Republican Party and their friends in much of the media, is a strange time to consider the fate of a November election. And even stranger to say it’s fate is sealed. Polls are notoriously misleading. People’s opinions are fluid. And the Republican Party is on the wrong side of virtually all issues important to the American people.
To see how the Republican Party’s program is exactly at odds with the desires of the people, all one has to do is look at the attitudes of the public towards Wall Street, and then at the Republicans in Congress, where they act as the chief defenders of the Goldman Sachs and their ilk.
Margolis then goes on to draw an analogy to the 2009 New York mayoral elections.
Plus, the experience of the New York City 2009 mayoral election is instructive. Voters were told for weeks, even right up to Election Day, that the mayoral race would be a blow out. Billionaire Mayor Michael Bloomberg would defeat Democratic challenger Bill Thompson handily, the pollsters screamed. The big question, according to the pundits, was whether Thompson would lose by more than 20 points, or less.
But hardly anyone in real life seemed to be saying they liked Bloomberg. The most common refrain was, “Why bother voting? He has it in the bag.” In essence, the media was operating in Bloomberg’s camp, trying to create a self-fulfilling prophecy.
The polls were wrong. Bloomberg won by less than five points, despite predictions of victory by a historic margin. Bloomberg spent $200 million, more than any other municipal candidate in the history of the world. How come he won by such a small margin? How were the polls so wrong?
Margolis then points out an obvious flaw in political polling, those NOT counted.
Polls focus on “likely voters” and “prime voters” (those who’ve voted in the past few elections, in primaries and in off-year elections). But others have begun to register and vote. Obama won in 2008 based on the mobilization of millions of people who had never voted before. These newly-energized people weren’t counted in the polls then, and still aren’t.
That is why the Communist Party, ACORN spin-offs, Project Vote, SEIU, USAction and hundreds of other organizations will be doing everything in their power to enroll millions of new voters by November. That is why ‘immigration reform” , union pay-offs, make work job schemes and all manner of voter bribes will be rolled out in the next few months.
If we want to make sure the Republican extremists don’t take back the House and Senate, the movement that elected Obama-mainly labor unions, the African American, Latino and Asian communities, women and young people-has to come together in states and congressional districts across the country.
Good news is many are already mobilizing for the November mid-term elections. And many key coalition constituents are at work around big issues: health care, jobs, immigrant rights. This helps to build unity, momentum and score victories.
That’s why I am boldly predicting the Democrats will hold onto their majority, and pick up a few seats to boot.
The Republicans massively under-estimated the power of the US left in the 2008 elections.
2010 may be America’s last chance to turn back the communist-socialist-Democratic Party agenda.
The Republicans need to listen not just to their own pollsters, but also to “insiders” like Dan Margolis.
Leading Tuscon Communist Party USA member, Carolyn Trowbridge has appealed for Party help in fighting Arizona’s new “get tough on illegal immigration” Bill (SB 1070).
The Bill which mandates law enforcement officers to check a suspects immigration status when there is good cause to do so, has drawn anger from the US left, from President Barack Obama down.
Writing in the Peoples World of April 26, Trowbridge who triples as chair of the Communist Party’s Women’s Commission , vice president of the Arizona ACLU and as a leading immigration activist, expressed her anger at the new law.
We are tired of being the laughing stock of the U.S., we are tired of being threatened, we are more than tired, WE ARE REALLY PISSED OFF. And we want the rest of you to also be pissed off. One reason our legislature and governor think they can get away with this crap is that no one else in the country is paying attention or cares.
Trowbridge went on to compare l the Bill, which merely seeks to enforce already existing federal guidelines, with Apartheid and even “ethnic cleansing”.
So we can use some loud voices in support of the national economic boycott of Arizona called by Raul Grijalva. Already the American Immigration Lawyers Association has dropped plans to hold their convention here. If you know of any other organizations who are planning events here, if you know people who are planning vacations (the Grand Canyon is fabulous but stay away until it is safe to come), moving a business, buying anything from us (especially citrus and other agricultural items), tell them to stop. We are fighting against our own apartheid, our own flirtation with ethnic cleansing.
Trowbridge echoed the calls of far left Arizona Congressman Raul Grijalva for economic sanctions against her own state.
Economic sanctions are appropriate. We listened when our brothers and sisters in South Africa called on the people of the world for economic sanctions because they knew that theirs was a greater goal; a little suffering and struggle would yield justice and freedom. We sustained an economic boycott here in Arizona when an earlier racist governor of the state of Arizona canceled our Martin Luther King Day; we won that struggle when the folks organizing the Super Bowl said they would never hold an event here in Arizona until there was a reversal. And we can win again.
Lastly, Trowbridge appealed to comrades across the nation to support the Arizona Party in its campaign against (SB 1070).
We need to know you have our back. We have more crazies that we deserve in Arizona at the moment. We need your support and we need an organized call from every state for real, honest, humane, and just Immigration Reform.

The “Climate Change” scam is dead in the West, so the left must use the mass power of the Third World and the United Nations to force through their socialist agenda.
The friendly socialists at Democracy Now! have obligingly filmed the World People’s Conference on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth, currently underway in Bolivia.
This video proves beyond all doubt that the “Climate change” agenda is an anti capitalist agenda.
Main speaker, Bolivia’s Marxist President Evo Morales Ayma, condemns the capitalist system in the opening session: “We have two paths. Either capitalism dies, or Mother Earth dies… We are here, brothers and sisters, for the rights of Mother Earth.
He’s a Vietnam veteran, he looks like your Uncle Frank, he goes to Republican Party conferences – but he ain’t no conservative.
In September 2008 George “Skip” Roberts was at the Republican Party conference in the Twin Cities.
“As he has entered elevators and receptions and talked to GOP delegates about where he works, the Vietnam veteran often finds himself getting a strange look from his fellow Republicans.”
“You are a member of the SEIU? Are you here to protest?” his interlocutors ask, Roberts recounted in an interview with Convention Daily. “People don’t quite know how to deal with us.”
While SEIU is heavily Democratic and endorsed Barack Obama for president, about 25 percent of its 2 million members are registered Republicans
Skip Roberts was hired around 2005 ago by then SEIU President Andy Stern to help bolster the SEIU’s voice among Republicans and “help the union find common ground with the party on economic security issues.”
“It’s important to leverage our support” on both sides of the aisle, says Roberts.
Roberts is in a great position to work with the G.O.P. As SEIU Assistant Director of Government Affairs, he has the ear of the union president and has served as an adviser to the great man himself.
While Roberts looks like a Republican, his politics would not sit well with most G.O.P. =ers. He is a former aide to the late far left Democratic Congressman from Hawaii, (and friend of Barack Obama, Sr. , Neil Abercrombie, but is no Democrat either.
Like many SEIUers , Skip Roberts is active with the Marxist based Democratic Socialists of America. From 2004 to 2008, Roberts has joined at least three DSA delegations to Socialist International conferences and has monitored elections in Mexico as a DSA observer.
Roberts doesn’t even seem to respect the Republicans that much.
When asked by far left American Prospect , “What Else Should the Federal Government Nationalize?” , Roberts replied;
“The Republican National Committee. It’s a natural under lemon socialism; we’re only taking over those enterprises with a failed business model.”
Possibly quite true, but not the kind of thing you’d expect to hear from a loyal Republican.
The shock stepdown by long time SEIU president Andy Stern has raised eyebrows across the US political spectrum.
Andy Stern
While Stern has been the face of SEIU for years, it is unlikely that his resignation will affect the direction of America’s most politically powerful labor union.
SEIU’s positions on immigration reform, healthcare “reform”, labor legislation, worker pensions and support for Obama and the Democratic Party usually reflect the policy’s of the U.S.’s largest Marxist organization, Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) .
Stern himself trained at the DSA controlled Midwest Academy in Chicago.
Key senior positions in SEIU are held by leading DSA connected Marxists, all of whom are likely to stay on under any new leadership regime.
These include:
Eliseo Medina, SEIU Executive Vice President and the union’s lead activist on immigration reform. Medina has been involved with DSA since the mid 1970s and has been a Democratic Socialists of America honorary chair since 1974.
Gerry Hudson , SEIU Executive Vice President since 2004. Head the union’s Long Term Care Division, representing nearly 500,000 nursing home and home care workers nationwide. Hudson has been a member of DSA, and its preceding organization, the Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee since the 1970s.
Bruce Raynor
Bruce Raynor, SEIU Executive Vice President and since 2004, General President of UNITE HERE, an SEIU affiliated union representing 150,000 workers in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada. Raynor was active in the radical students for a Democratic Society at Cornell University in the late 1960s. In 2001 he served on a Boston DSA awards committee. In 1999 and 2004, Raynor presented awards at Chicago Democratic Socialists of America’s annual dinner.
Tom Woodruff, SEIU Executive Vice President and Director of the Change to Win labor federation’s Strategic Organizing Center. Woodruff was a very active Students for a Democratic Society member in the 1960s. In September 2002 Democratic Socialists of America organized an event in Washington DC entitled “Confronting America’s Low-Wage Economy.” Featured speakers included DSA vice chair Frances Fox Piven, DSA member Lawrence Mishel, Executive Director of the Economic Policy Institute and Tom Woodruff of SEIU.
"Skip" Roberts
George (Skip) Roberts, is SEIU Assistant Director of Government Affairs and adviser to the president. He is probably one of the union’s most influential operators. Roberts has joined DSA delegations to Socialist International meetings in 2003 (Brazil) , 2004 (Spain) , and to greece 2006 (where he joined independent US delegate and now Obama “Global warming Czar” Carol Browner). Roberts also participated in the observer delegation from the Socialist International to the Mexican elections in early July 2006, which was led by DSA National Director Frank Llewellyn.
Further down the ladder, the pattern is the same:
Debbie Schneider, SEIU Director, Global Organizing Partnerships, is a veteran of the DSA Feminist Commission.
Howard Croft, SEIU Assistant Director Long Term Care Division, is a veteran of one of DSA’s predecessors, the New American Movement and of DSA’s “Racial Diversity Task Force”.
Steve Askin, Director of the SEIU’s Center for Public Accountability, is also veteran of the New American American and is a financial supporter of DSA’s Democratic Left magazine. Askin’s Deputy director, Raahi Reddy has been active in both DSA and the Communist Party USA splinter group, Committees of Correspondence.
SEIU is not Andy Stern.
SEIU is a covert policy “transmission belt” from Democratic Socialists of America to the White House and the Democratic Party.
SEIU socialism will roll on, regardless of who next takes the reigns at America’s most destructive labor cartel.
Now that “Climate Change” has been discredited in the “First World”, its Marxist promoters are turning to the “oppressed” masses of the “Third World” to promote their cause.
Bolivia’s Marxist president Evo Morales, is to use this huge gathering of “indigenous” peoples, revolutionaries and anarchists to promote his idea for an international referendum on “Climate Change”.
Morales wants at least 2 billion people to vote in his proposed referendum;
At the Copenhagen conference, President Evo Morales proposed that, given the lack of an accord among governments, the people should be consulted in a referendum of global scale. He put forth the following five questions for that referendum:
1) Do you agree with reestablishing harmony with nature while recognizing the rights of the Mother Earth? YES or NO
2) Do you agree with changing this model of over-consumption and waste that represents capitalist system? YES or NO
3) Do you agree that developing countries reduce and reabsorb their domestic greenhouse gas emissions for temperature not to rise more than 1 degree Celsius? YES or NO
4) Do you agree with transferring all that is spent in wars and for allocating a budget bigger than used for defense to climate change? YES or NO
5) Do you agree with a Climate Justice Tribunal to judge those who destroy Mother Earth? YES or NO
The working group will discuss the pertinence of this proposal, the questions it will ask, and the concrete aspects of organizing a referendum at the global level with the participation of different peoples and progressive governments.
Don’t laugh. It is highly likely that the United Nations, or other international organizations will pick up this idea and run with it.
“Climate Change” is not dead yet. the movement has changed its target audience from the educated and industrialized West, to the impoverished and less literate peoples of the planet.
“Climate Change” will become less and less about pseudo science and more and more about “justice”.
While only 6,000 strong, DSA has considerable strength in the labor movement, non profits, education and inside the Democratic Party. While Marxist based, DSA’s innocuous sounding name, allows the organization to operate in ways and places that their allies in the the Communist Party USA cannot.
After using its clout to push through “healthcare reform” DSA is now using its influence in the giant union SEIU, to promote “immigration reform”.
On April 6, 2010 at the McShain Lounge in McCarthy Hall Georgetown University, Washington, D.C. the DSA controlled Dissent magazine sponsored a seminar “Labor, the Left, and Progressives in the Obama Era”, summed up as follows:
After the success of health care reform, what’s next on labor’s agenda? How can the labor movement grow and engage with a progressive movement that speaks to the Obama era? What is the role of younger workers, workers of color, and women? Is there a new “New Deal” on the horizon?
Christopher Hayes, Washington editor of the the DSA infiltrated Nation magazine and former writer for the DSA dominated In These Times.
Gerry Hudson, executive vice-president of the SEIU. A long time DSA member.
Michael Kazin, co-editor of Dissent magazine and co-author of a history of American communism with DSA member Maurice Isserman. Kazin traveled to Cuba in 1970 to cut cane for Castro, with the infamous Venceremos Brigade.
Harold Meyerson, columnist for the Washington Post. A DSA vice chair.
The seminar worked on ways to sell “immigration reform” to workers – a tough job, especially in a time of high unemployment.
SEIU leader and veteran of the Communist-led Black Radical Congress, Gerry Hudson, promoted the idea of manipulating anti-Latino immigrant black workers. This would be achieved by exploiting and stoking their fear of white “f**king rabidly racists”. To Hudson it seems to be a legitimate tactic to promote anti white feeling among blacks, in order to get them to support immigrant Latinos.
Hudson cynically wants to ally black workers with Latinos against these white “f**king rabidly racist” workers.
But why, in a time of high unemployment, do DSA labor unionists want to legalize illegal immigrants and open US borders to still more low skilled labor competition? How is that in their members interest?
The answer is simple. The members’ interests don’t matter.
This is about power.
A greater number of low-skilled Latino immigration means more votes for the Democrats and consequently more power for the political left. This was clearly shown when SEIU International Executive Vice President, Eliseo Medina let the rat out of the bag in a speech to the “progressive” America’s Future Now! conference in Washington, DC on June 2, 2009. A DSA honorary chair, Medina addressed attendees on the issue of “immigration reform”…
Speaking of Latino voters, Medina said:
When they voted in November, they voted overwhelmingly for progressive candidates. Barack Obama got two out of every three voters that showed up
So I think there’s two things that matter for the progressive community.
Number one, if we are to expand this electorate to win, the progressive community needs to solidly be on the side of immigrants, that we’ll expand and solidify the progressive coalition for the future…”
When you are in the middle of a fight for your life you will remember who was there with you. And immigrants count on progressives to be able to do that.
Number two.
We reform the immigration laws, it puts 12 million people on the path to citizenship and eventually voters. Can you imagine if we have, even the same ratio, two out of three?
If we have eight million new voters who care about …… and will be voting. We will be creating a governing coalition for the long term, not just for an election cycle.
There you have the strategy. Fight for the illegal immigrants, grant them citizenship, then exploit their gratitude in the form of votes to create a “governing coalition for the long term, not just for an election cycle…”
In other words, lock the Democrats, the unions and their socialist allies into power indefinitely. exploit millions of immigrant votes to defeat Republican candidates, turning conservatives into a permanent electoral minority.
Labor unions in Marxist hands become mere transmission belts for socialist policies. The looming “immigration reform” debate is a graphic example of how a small cadre of socialists can leverage labor power into altering the direction of the world’s most powerful country.
American workers and voters are being sold into state slavery by a handful of Marxist ideologues who have captured the levers of labor power.
American labor expelled communist from its ranks in the 1940s.
Recently retired AFL-CIO president and former SEIU leader John Sweeney – you guessed it, another DSA member, overturned the communist-ban in 1995, with predictable results.
US workers need to realize that, by pushing for so-called “immigration reform”, their socialist leaders in the labor movement and the Democratic Party are actively working to destroy the American way of life.
