May Day Greetings continued

1997

In People's Weekly World, May Day Special Supplement, Section J, 1997 an advertisement was placed "Solidarity with workers everywhere in their struggles for a better life for all! from Northern California Friends of the People's Weekly World/Nuestri Mundo:

Signatories were:

International Women's Day, March 3, 2001, People's Weekly World

"On International Women's Day we salute and honor our sisters who have been activists for peace, justice and equality in the many organizations of this area for the past 60 years or more. They are our inspiration and we will always remember them." [1]

"On International Women's Day we salute and honor our sisters who have been activists for peace, justice and equality in the many organizations of this area for the past 60 years or more. They are our inspiraction and we will always remember them."

In the Nov. 20, 1999 edition of People's Weekly World, P. 13, there appeared a column by Anne Medic entitled "It's good news-bad news for workers these days". The byline identified the writer as "Anne Medic is a New Yorker who now lives in Croatia." It is not the same "Medic" who is listed here in the California listing, but her mother because of information found in the PWW 1/30/93 "In Memoriam" notice wherein she and her mother's names appeared together. This points up several things: the possibility of identical or similar names appearing in the CP newspapers but at different locations and the question of whether they are the same people or not. Problems with proper identification can be caused by the use of slight variation of their names by the people involved, typos, they are related, or the fact that they may have moved around over a period of time, as it turned out to be in this case for the daughter.

"Friends & Comrades - No. Calif. District"

It is a good bet that some of the above will show up in congressional hearings, esp. those of HCUA for both the Northern and Southern Districts of the CPUSA, and for specific cities such as Los Angeles and San Francisco. As additional information becomes available, it will be added to this page.

International Women's Day, March 8, 2003, People's Weekly World

"On International Women's Day we salute and honor our sisters who have been activists for peace, justice and equality in the many organizations of this area for the past 60 years or more. They are our inspiration and we will always remember them." [4]
